If you want to calculate the next working day, you have come to the right place!

Let’s take an example and evaluate the procedure of the same:

next Working Day

As you can observe in the image above, we have a bunch of dates and on the right hand side (RHS), we have the holidays given.

So, to calculate the next working day, here’s what we do:

next Working Day

Step 1: Input the formula =WORKDAY(

We will use the WORKDAY Function which is as follows:

=WORKDAY(

Step 2: Input the required values in the formula

The following formula requires start date, days, and holidays (which can be optional in some cases but not in this one!).

next Working Day

The start date will be the Date given i.e. cell B3 (21-01-2020).

next Working Day

Then we will jot down 1 in the days as we are talking about the next day here!

next Working Day

And then comes the holidays which in excel terms are I3:J5 in the above example.

next Working Day

Step 3: Cross- check the formula and proceed

This makes our overall formula as follows:

=WORKDAY(B3,1,I3:J5)

next Working Day

Now all you have to do is press enter. As you can observe in the image above, the result is not in the form of date. Some of you might get the dates directly but for those who get their answers as follows, this is what you need to do:

next Working Day

You need to go to the Number section and select the Short date (or Long Date, whichever is preferred).

next Working Day

And there you go! The next working day as per the start date and the holidays given.

It’s easy, isn’t it?
