In this tutorial, I will let you know how to install a power query in any Microsoft excel Prior to 2016 Version as for later version it’s included and you can access via “Data” Tab.
But, The real question is, What is Power Query?
You may have encountered some data from your friend or senior in your office in a messy or unsorted format like data is unsynchronised which make it difficult to work on it.
There comes a handy tool which is called Power Query which go through that messy data, clean and synchronizes it in way excel and you love to work with.
There’s actually no formula, macros or codes to this beautiful or lifesaver tool, all you need is to hit “refresh all” button to see the magic happen.
It can also merge two separate tables together and create extra columns for our data calculations which can ease our work efficiently.
How To Install A Power Query?
Well, first and foremost you need to have valid office 365 subscription or license which you can download from the following URL;
STEP 1: For other versions, you need to check it in your excel under the “help” menu or in newer versions under “Account” and then you can see in the screenshot below;
STEP 2: You can download Microsoft Power Query Using the following URL;
Now you can install the downloaded file.
STEP3: After the installation, you need to open blank excel workbook and chere you can see “Power Query” tab;
STEP 4: If You do not see, you need to activate it from File> Options > Add-ins >Manege (Bottom) > Select COM Add-ins
STEP 5: Under Add-ins available options select > Microsoft Power Query For Excel
There you go! You have installed A Power Query Successfully.
