Freeze Panes in Excel

I am sure you have encountered a situation where you had heaps of data with so many rows and all you needed to see the headers? I have faced this situation many times so here I’m going to share my solution with you.

In Excel, there is an option that will allow us to freeze panes. By this, you will be able to see column headings whilst scrolling down your data.

STEP1: Freezing Top Row

Firstly, follow this to freeze the Row 1 of your Excel sheet:

Go to View > Freeze Panes > Freeze Top Row

Now continue with scrolling down, the first row will always be visible.

STEP2: Unfreezing Panes

what if you want to unfreeze it after sometime? Don’t worry here I have mentioned how to do that:

To be able to undo the freezing follow this: 

Go to View > Freeze Panes > Unfreeze Panes

Now you should scroll normally.

There is a possibility that you may want to freeze rows 1 to 4 instead of Row 1. In this case, you need to select the Fifth row.

Follow this after selecting fifth row: 

Go to View > Freeze Panes > Freeze Panes
